Mayor Phillip Baulch and his wife Deana are lifelong residents of Nettleton. They have two children Justin, Molly Anna and four grandchildren. Phillip is a graduate of Nettleton High School and Mississippi State University. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science His wife, Dr. Deana Baulch teaches in the Lee County School system.
Mayor Baulch’ s professional career includes software development in the space industry including voice control projects on the Space Shuttle’s Canadarm Robotic Arm for NASA. Department of Defense (DOD) projects include development of the Advance Interface Blanker Unit (AIU/AIBU) for the F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft. Other DOD projects include Boost Surveillance and Tracking System (BSTS), part of the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) utilizing space-based X-ray lasers which operated from geostationary orbits.
Other software related projects include the development and deployment of a cotton management software system. This system was a cooperative development between USDA, Mississippi State University and Clemson University. The Gossym (Gossypium) Comax (Cotton Management eXpert) software system included yield growth modeling, GIS mapping.
In the private sector, Mayor Baulch designed & developed a day trading and financial management system for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) commodities & indexes. From 2005 to 2022, he has owned and operated a commercial printing, direct mail & sign business.
